The tweeter is embedded in the centre of the bass driver diaphragm and protected by a grille.
The bass driver diaphragm is quite flat to ensure the proper functioning f the tweeter.
The tweeter's linear excursion of +/-2 mm is surely the highest we've come across.
Since the bass driver diaphragm is quite flat, it had to be stiffened by bracing all around.
The rear of the bass driver's aluminium diaphragm is coated with damping polystyrene foam. The bass driver's air gap has a depth of 12 mm. A voice coil of 6 mm height moves in this air gap.
Review in Hobby HiFi 4/2004: "Technically the Thiel is certainly pulling all stops - without any doubt one of the best coax drivers around."
The basket is made of light metal die cast, the bass driver diaphragm is made of aluminium / polystyrene, the surround is rubber. The tweeter has an aluminium diaphragm with a frequency range going beyond 30 kHz.
