THIEL - Ultimate Performance Drivers

Jim Thiel / USA - not to be mixed up with Bernhard Thiel/Accuton, whose products we sell as well - developed a wonderful coincidentally mounted driver (coincident source array) that encouraged us to offer top quality drivers coming from the finished loudspeaker market. The inherent problem of multiple drivers mounted side by side or one behind the other (coax drivers) is the lack of precise imaging. This kit suggests a coincident source driver that is time and phase coherent regarding low and high frequencies.

The tweeter is embedded in the
centre of the bass driver diaphragm
and protected by a grille.

The bass driver diaphragm is quite
flat to ensure the proper functioning
f the tweeter.

The tweeter's linear excursion of
+/-2 mm is surely the highest we've
come across.

Since the bass driver diaphragm is quite
flat, it had to be stiffened by bracing
all around.

The rear of the bass driver's aluminium
diaphragm is coated with damping
polystyrene foam.

The bass driver's air gap has a depth of 12 mm. A voice coil of 6 mm height moves in this air gap.

Technical Data:			The driver has a diameter of 181 mm, required cut-out 146 mm. Countersinking depth 4.5 mm without front ring and 11.5 mm with front ring. The basket is made of light metal die cast, the bass driver diaphragm is made of aluminium / polystyrene, the surround is rubber. The tweeter has an aluminium diaphragm with a frequency range going beyond 30 kHz.
